Capabilities & RFQ questions

What file formats can I send with an RFQ?
PDF drawings, STEP/IGES solids, DXF flat patterns, or a marked-up photo and a note. The sales desk reads all of them. If all you have is a length and a grade, a phone call works too — most cut orders never need a formal drawing.
What tolerance can you hold on a cut?
Standard cut-to-length tolerance is ±0.030″ on the cold saws. On the CNC band saw and shear we hold ±0.015″; on plate through the plasma table, ±0.060″ on profile. If your print calls for tighter, tell us at RFQ and we will confirm feasibility and price before you commit.
Do certifications ship with the order?
Yes — mill test reports (MTRs), ANSI/ASTM Declarations of Conformity, and, where applicable, NIST-traceable calibration certs travel with the material on the same truck. You do not chase paperwork two weeks after the steel lands.
How fast is an RFQ turned around?
A drawing or parts list uploaded before 2pm Eastern is quoted the same business day — line pricing, cut and processing charges, and lead time. Complex weldment or multi-material packages may take a second day; we tell you which at intake.
Is there a minimum order for cut-to-spec?
No hard minimum. We will cut a single 18-inch drop off a 20-foot stick. Cut charges are flat per cut, so single pieces are priced honestly rather than penalized. Bulk and blanket orders get processing built into the unit price.
